How to Cook Bratwurst

Do you need a quick item to cook for a tailgating party, social gathering or party? You should try making bratwursts. They are quick to make and taste good. When making these, I’ve never had a complaint. Everyone complimented the sausages and even came back for seconds and thirds. When making these you may want to plan to serve multiple pieces for each person.  They really are that good!

Bratwursts are great food to have when you have company over and you need something quick and delicious. They make great finger foods to serve when you need to feed lots of people without hassle and complications. An electric skillet is a portable pan. It looks just like a common skillet except it has an electric component. It’s small enough to fit on your countertop and you can control the heating settings on the pan. Bratwursts are also called Brats for short and they are German in origin. You can cook them several ways. This includes simmering, boiling them in water and afterwards, searing them in a pan. The sausages needs to be browned on all sides and cooked thoroughly before consumption. Here is how you can cook bratwursts. Read on for more information.

Ingredients:

  • Fork
  • Bratwurst
  • Electric Skillet and Top
  • Water

Step 1

Turn on your electric skillet. Plug the electric skillet into an outlet. Adjust the temperature on the pan to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the top that matches the skillet securely on the pan. Allow for the pan to warm up for a minimum of 3 minutes. Some electric skillet models have a light and will tell you when the desired temperature setting is achieved.

Step 2

Add ½ inch water to the electric skillet. Add the bratwurst in the hot water. Place the top tight over the pan.

Step 3

Use the fork to puncture the casing of the bratwurst. This will stop the bratwurst from exploding under the heat of the cooking process. Put the bratwurst gently in and put the top back on the skillet again.

Step 4

At this step, allow the bratwurst to cook until the water is all cooked out of the pot. The bratwursts will look grey in appearance after they are fully cooked.

Step 5

Take the top off the electric skillet. Lower the settings to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Continue cooking your bratwursts. Turn them over on occasion. Brown all the skin.

Step 6

When the sausages have completely cooked be sure to ensure your safety. Turn the electric pan completely. Unplug the skillet from the electrical outlet.

Step 7

Put the bratwurst on a bun and add the toppings of your choice. Onions, mustard, ketchup and even barbecue sauce are all great condiments. Relish and cheese are favorites as well.
