How to Teach a Computer Class

It has become necessary to learn Computer for almost everyone these days. Listed are some tips that can help you in teaching a computer class:

1. You should decide first that what you want to teach. Topic decision matters a lot as you can only teach the topics you are familiar with. If you are a designer and you are going to teach programming, obviously you will fail. You need to have a thorough knowledge on the topic you are going to teach about. So, first of all decide whether you are going to teach about simply typing or you want to teach professional programming?

2. Organize the topic so that it would be easier for you to teach and as well as for the students to understand. For example, if you are going to teach about computers basics divide this topic like:

a.            Computer history

b.            What is computer?

c.             Components of the computer

i.              Computer hardware

ii.             Computer software

3. Find a good place for the students. You are going to teach to a computer class. So the place should look like a computer class or otherwise the students will not be able to develop interest. You should have a large board to write on and a projector screen to play slides on. You should also have a computer lab. Each student should have his own computer. But this depends on your topic if a separate computer is needed or not. But still there should be enough computers to be available to all the students. The environment of the class should be quiet. No noise should distract the attention of the students. The room should neither be too hot nor too cold. If the temperature of the room is not favorable the students will not be able concentrate on the lecture. Thus, temperature is also a very important factor to be noticed. You can get such place from a nearby school or college. Just ask them to allow you a room for teaching your computer class. Most probably they will be able to provide you with a nice room.

4. Decide on the time of the class. Make a weekly schedule and give it to the students. So that everything goes with discipline. Try that schedule is acceptable by most of the students or else your class will have just a few people in it.

These suggestions can help you a lot in starting your own computer school. You would also need to learn about computer science to teach a computer class.
