When you have a WordPress blog, you should regularly backup its posts. This is important because if your server crash down, you can restore your blog with the database that you have backup.
To create backup for your blog through WordPress plugin, follow the instructions below:
Procedure:
- Download WP-DB-Backup. Alternatively, you can go to Dashboard >> Plugins >> Add New to download the plugin.
- Unzip the wp-db-backup folder to your computer and upload it to wp-content/plugins/ with an FTP application.
- Go to Dashboard >> Plugins.
- Find the WordPress Database Backup plugin and activate it.
- Go to Tools > Backup.
- If you want your backup to exclude the comments, check wp_comments. If you want your backup to exclude posts revisions, check wp_posts.
- When you are satisfied, click on the Backup now! button.
- Do not close your web browser, refresh the page or click Stop or Back buttons in your web browser during the backup progress.
- When a pop up appear, click Save to save the files to your computer.
- You can also schedule backup for your blog automatically and have the database email to your specified email address. You can do so by selecting the options in the Schedule Backup section. You can choose from several options including Never, Once Hourly, Twice Daily, Once Daily or Once Weekly. Once you have selected an option, click on the Schedule backup button.
