How to Always Win at Tic Tac Toe

Tic Tac Toe is the ultimate solution to boredom and monotony. But what’s the fun in playing this game if you don’t win? Well, so here are some tips for you to help you win mostly every time you play Tic Tac Toe:

Make the grid. Making a Tic Tac Toe grid is a fairly easy task. Use a pencil or a pen to make two parallel lines vertically on a piece of paper. Then make two parallel lines perpendicular to the vertical lines, horizontally. What you have now is a grid with nine squares to be filled in with a nought (0) or a cross (X).

Choose between noughts and crosses. Before starting the game, decide mutually who will take up noughts and who will take up zeroes. Also decide who goes first.

The following instructions are based on the assumption that you have chosen a cross for yourself:

Put your cross in the centre square. Tactically, the centre square is the best option to win the game, and hence players going first will want to put their cross here to win. The maximum possibility of wining in a Tic Tac Toe game is to go first and put your symbol in the centre square. If you are going second, then try to convince your opponent to leave the centre square.

Put your second cross in any corner. The position of your opponent’s nought is of no relevance here, as you have to put your next cross in a corner. Take some time deliberately. Do not act rationally or your secret will be out.

Considering the position of the second nought, decide if you have to block. If your opponent has placed two noughts in the same row, you will need to block that row. In this case, your move will be to put your cross in the line of the two noughts so that your opponent can’t complete the line and win. If there is already no need for you to block, select another corner for your cross.

Ensure your position. There must be two incomplete lines of crosses now, such that a cross in any one of the two makes you victorious. So no matter where your opponent places his nought for he can’t block two lines in a single turn.

Play a couple more rounds. Tic Tac Toe is not the type of game in which one round is ample. You must play a round of at least best three or best nine games to make your time interesting.

Tic Tac Toe does not involve much tactics or planning like Chess. Try to find a person who is slightly dull or who is all right with your chance first almost always. Just these simple tips are more than enough for you to ensure your win almost every time.
