How to Make Spicy Macaroni and Cheese


Macaroni and cheese is one of America’s favorite side dishes. There are many ways to make this popular comfort food. You can make the macaroni and cheese the classic way. But why make it the classic way when you can jazz it up a little bit with some spice? Here is how you can make spicy macaroni and cheese. It’s easy, fun and delicious.

Procedure:

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 box Velveeta Mac & Cheese
  • 1/4 – 1/2 lb Ground Beef
  • 1 can Green Chilies
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes
  • Chili Powder

Step 1

Make sure your ground beef is defrosted.

Step 2

In a large pan, brown your hamburger evenly. You should cook the meat over medium heat. Do not add oil to the pan. Ground beef makes an oil of its own from the fat. Sprinkle the meat with the chili powder to season the meat.

Step 3

Make sure you remove the oil from this recipe. Drain the oil from the hamburger meat. Turn the stove down to a low heat.

Step 4

In a pot, bring some water to a boil. Then add the pasta to the water. Follow the directions on the box as to how to prepare the macaroni and cheese. You can add a pinch of salt to the water, but be careful not to add more than that. You don’t want the food too salty.

Step 5

While you are cooking your pasta in the water prepare the other parts of your dish. Drain your vegetables.

Step 6

Drain your green chilies and tomatoes. If you don’t drain these items your macaroni and cheese will have too much liquid. Heat the tomato and green chilies on low heat. Be careful not to cook these too long or too high. Chilies are bitter in flavor when burned or scorched.

Step 7

Drain your pasta and mix all of the ingredients. Check to make sure your pasta is the right tenderness. Add the cheese that came in the box with the macaroni and cheese. Mix these ingredients thoroughly.

Step 8

You can take this recipe one step further and add chicken to the dish. Cook your chicken before you add it to this dish. You can substitute the beef for ground chicken or boneless skinless chicken breasts.

Step 9

If you add the chicken tot he dish you should top the chicken with a layer of cheese. You can use shredded cheddar cheese or a cheese blend. Layer the cheese on the top of macaroni and cheese. Place the dish in an over preheated at 350 degrees Farenheit. Bake the macaroni and cheese in the oven until the cheese is melted and browned. Serve the dish while hot.
