Mangoes are by far one of the sweetest and delicious fruits in the world. There is no rocket science when it comes to cutting this lovely fruit. All it takes is a knife and a spoon to do the trick.
There are two ways in cutting a mango namely: slice and scoop method and inside out method. These two methods use the same kitchen stuff the spoon and knife.
Before you even start cutting a mango, you need to select the right mango. Be sure you will buy mangoes that are freshly picked and not the frozen ones. You can go at a local market store to check out mangoes on sale.
You will see different varieties of mangoes and they come in different sizes as well. Remember to choose wisely, you do not want rotten mangoes on the plate.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- mango
- knife
- spoon
- chopping board
INSTRUCTIONS
Preparation
- Wash the mangoes properly.
- Prepare the chopping board, the spoon and the knife.
Slice and Scoop Method
- Let the mango stand on firm on the board and hold tightly. With the use of a knife, cut down one side starting from the center line just about 1/4 inch away from it. Then, repeat the same process on the other side of the mango. Then, you will have two pieces of ovals worth of mango flesh, and the seed.
- Then, cut a couple of parallel slices right towards the mango flesh. Be cautious not to cut the mango skin.
- With the use of a spoon, scoop out the mango slices.
Inside Out Method
- Let the mango stand on firm on the board and hold tightly. With the use of a knife, cut down one side starting from the center line just about 1/4 inch away from it. Then, repeat the same process on the other side of the mango. Then, you will have two pieces of ovals worth of mango flesh, and the seed.
- Then, cut a couple of parallel slices right towards the mango flesh. Be cautious not to cut the mango skin. Then, use the same method to cut another parallel slices in order to come up with a checkboard pattern.
- Push the skin by holding the two sides of the cheek (oval shaped flesh) right underneath it.
- With the use of a spoon, scrape the mango flesh off from the skin.
