How to Treat Appendicitis with Natural Medicine

Appendicitis is the inflammation of appendix. The appendix is a finger-like pouch attached to the large intestine and located in the lower right area of the abdomen. Scientists are not sure what the appendix does, if anything, but removing it does not appear to affect a person’s health. The inside of the appendix is called the appendiceal lumen. Mucus created by the appendix travels through the appendiceal lumen and empties into the large intestine. Conventionally, Appendicitis is treated by appendectomy which means the removal of appendix. This surgical procedure is invasive and intra-corporeal and there are many risks of other infections to propagate during the operation. Some symptoms of appendicitis may include: loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, inability to pass gas, a low-grade fever that follows other symptoms are abdominal swelling and the feeling that passing stool will relieve discomfort. If the inflammation is caught in early stages, the appendicitis can be cured by some ways as regarded by the practitioners. These are as follows:

Procedure:

Fasting: In the initial stages of Appendicitis, abdominal pain is felt in the area where the appendix is present. When this happens, the person should refrain from eating. The actual function of appendix is to remove toxins from the food. If there will be no food, no work will be done by appendix. Thus, it will straighten automatically. Small quantities of water may be taken to avoid dehydration.

Rest: A complete bed rest is advised by many naturopaths to persons suffering from Appendicitis. Rest gives stress to the appendix which enhances its normality.

Hot compress: As you feel severe pain in the area of your appendix, you should compress the area with a towel soaked in warm water.  Almond oil massage therapy also relieves pain.

Enema: Some doctors prefer enema in initial stages of Appendicitis. Enema is very helpful in some cases. Sometimes partial enema is done on the 1st and 2nd days of pain and a complete enema is done with slightly hot water on the next day. Enema filters the appendix and inflammation may be averted.

Fresh juices: Having fresh fruit juices and citrus fruits are also recommended by naturopaths and the holistic practitioners that help clean your body of the harmful compounds and toxic materials which lead to Appendicitis. On the third day, if enema causes the symptoms subside, begin the consumption of fruit juices. Solid food is still not recommended.  Soups and yogurt may be consumed in these days because these are highly digestible.

And yes, consult a naturopath and a holistic health specialist before attempting these natural remedies. Actually the thing is to alleviate stress from the body and relax the appendix, whenever you encounter symptoms relating Appendicitis.
