How to Install Joomla through Cpanel


Joomla is a content management system that is used primarily for publishing web content. Joomla is written in PHP and uses MySQL database system. The developer of Joomla is The Joomla Core Team. Joomla is licensed by GNU General Public License. It is a free software and is available for the public.

Features in Joomla include blogs, RSS feeds, and news flash. Joomla supports multiple language. Joomla was developed through the source code of the open source content management system Mambo.

You can add functionality to your Joomla site through the extensions called plugins. Several plugins have been contributed by freelance developers and are available for download in the plugin directory in the official site. As of date, there are more than 3000 plugins in Joomla directory that is available for download. Components allows you to expand the user feature, translate content and create SEO friendly URL, and backup the database of the website. There are also certain modules that allows you to add custom code such as Google Adsense, and etc. Joomla administrators can set the global parameter for each article. You can choose to reveal the author name of the author or hide it from being displayed to the public.

If you want to install Joomla through cPanel, follow the instructions below:

Procedure:

1.  On the homepage of your cPanel, click on the Fantastico icon. This will take you to the home page of Fantastico.

2.  Click on Joomla in the Content Management section on the left Navigation bar.

3.  Click on New Installation.

4.  Select the domain on which you want to install Joomla from the Install on domain drop down menu.

5.  If you want to install Joomla in the root directory of the domain, leave the Install in directory text box empty. If you want to install Joomla in a directory, enter the directory name. This directory should not be existed. It will be automatically created.

6.  Enter a username in the Administrator-username text box. You need this to enter the Joomla administration area.

7.  Enter a password in the Password text box. You need this to enter the Joomla administration area.

10. Enter the site’s contact email address in the Admin e-mail text box. All Joomla notifications will be sent to this email address.

11. Enter your full name in the Admin full name text box.

12. Enter the name of your website in the Site name text box.

13. When you are done, click the Install Joomla button.

14. Click the Finish Installation button.

15. Joomla is now successfully installed.

If you follow the guidelines above, you will be able to install Joomla on your site through Fantastico in Cpanel.
