How to Research Properly for a Job


The time following graduation from college is really exciting for a person. A long period of time, of more than three years, is spent in preparing for survival and rise in the real world. Now you’re in the market looking for a job and you also don’t have to live with your parents. But you’re new to this world and don’t have much idea about finding a suitable job. This is how you should find suitable job?

  • Firstly, research, it’s your homework. You’re quite familiar with it and have heard it plenty of times in school while doing papers and projects. In order to do it correctly and get good marks, you were supposed to research properly and be comprehensive. It’s the same in job market. Here also if you can do it properly, by taking plenty of time, you have greater chances of finding a more suitable job. But you should take your time. It may take from few hours to several days in doing the research.

  • Be systematic. Just like you had to be systematic while doing your assignments and projects in school, you’ve to be systematic here also. Since almost everything is computerized now, do bookmark all the useful sites for easier access. You wouldn’t like wasting time looking for the same thing again and again.
  • Get contact information from all the people you come across, as a part of your research.
  • Decrease the areas which you’ve to research. Confine your research to smaller area by prioritizing. Prioritize cities, types of jobs available, etc. on the basis of your suitability. Also consider salary offered as a parameter for decreasing area of research.
  • Use different types of resources for doing your research for a job. Don’t search the similar things on the internet again and again as the results will also start getting similar. Use the different type of job searches available on the internet to get more diverse and relevant results.
  • You may also take the help of a job placement agent. These agents can easily find out the types of jobs available and what types of jobs correspond to the salary suitable to you.
  • Daily update your job research as people are daily fired and new people are hired. So the number of jobs keeps increasing and decreasing daily. That is why daily updating is required.
  • Treat all emails and phone calls, regarding jobs, as mini interviewers. Here also try developing a favorable mindset of the caller. You can surely succeed in getting the type of career you want through a little labor and luck.
