How to Cook New York Steak

Are you having difficulty on cooking the delicious New York steak? If you do, worry no more! You can cook your very own New York Steak with no hassle and plus it even gets more flavour than the usual steak you eat outside home.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

  • New York Steak
  • cooking oil
  • Kosher salt
  • black pepper (fresh and cracked)
  • meat thermometer
  • barbeque grill

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Get the steaks out from the fridge. Let the meat sit on a platter for about an hour just before you start grilling them. Sitting on room temperature will let the meat get an even temperature which is good when it comes to grilling in order to get even cooking at the same time.
  2. Right after one hour, get the New York steak and rub the meat with cooking oil, to be followed with black pepper and Kosher salt. Just a word of caution, do not rub the meat with salt and pepper first before you coat it with oil. This is because it has been a belief that salt draws moisture that comes from the meat. If you want to add more flavour it is highly recommended to make your very own steak run recipe. If you want to use nothing but the best dry rub you can purchase it straight from Chicago steakhouse.
  3. If you want to add more flavour and character to the steak, you can marinate it. If you have chosen to use marinade, be sure to move the steak right from the bowl with the mixture of marinade before the meat will reach at room temperature. This will give an even cooking when you start grilling the meat.
  4. Prepare the barbeque grill. Once it hits the right temperature. Put in the steaks on top of the rack and wait for couple of minutes or so.
  5. Wait till you see the meat has turned into golden brown. When it does it is now time to flip the other side of the steak. Do not attempt to flip the meat more than once, this will ruin the entire cooking process and later on will lead to uneven cooking of the meat.
  6. With the use of a meat thermometer, check the internal temperature of the meat. When the temperature reaches your preferred doneness, rare, medium-rare or well-done, then remove the meat off the grill and place it on a platter.
  7. You can add side dish to the New York steak and serve it as it is.
