How to Cook Filet Mignon


When people talk about steak in high regard, the mention filet mignon. This steak is loved and coveted. It can be pricey and some deem it to be worth every penny. It’s a tender cut and hold flavors very well. There are many ways to prepare filet mignon, and may items that compliment this prime cute of meat. Restaurants specialize in making filet mignon, but you don’t have to be a five star chef to make this delectable steak. You can make a wonderful filet mignon steak from the comfort of your own home to please both family and friends. Here is how you can make filet mignon. This recipe will serve 6 people. Read on.

Items You Will Need:

  • Filet Mignon Steaks (6) *They should be inch cuts and 6 ounces a
  • Measuring cups

  • Olive Oil (1 Tbsp.) *Do not use Virgin
  • salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Shallots
  • Saucepans
  • Can Beef Broth (reduced sodium) *  14 ½ ounces
  • Cans of Chicken Broth (reduced sodium) *Two 14 ½ ounces
  • measuring spoons
  • Knives
  • cutting boards
  • Garlic (1 Tbsp.) Chopped
  • unsalted butters (2 Tbsp.) * Room temperature
  • measuring cups
  • 1 (750-ml.) bottle Merlot
  • Flour (All Purpose, 1 Tbsp.)
  • Fresh Thyme (minced) 1 Tsp.

Step 1

Combine both chicken and beef broth and the merlot in a saucepan. Turn the stove on to high. Reduce the solution to about 2 cups. This process may take up to one hour to do. Sit the mix to the side.

Step 2

Mash the butter and flour together in a little container or bowl.

Step 3

In a big skillet, warm the olive oil on medium high heat.

Step 4

Season the filet mignon well. Use the cracked black pepper and salt for starters.

Step 5

Put your steaks into the hot olive oil. Sautee the filet mignon for approximately four minutes on both sides. This will give a medium rare result. If you like your steaks well done, then allow the steak to sauté a little longer on each side.

Step 6

Move the filet mignon from the hot skillet to a plate.

Step 7

Put the fresh thyme, chopped garlic and shallots in the hot pan and stir for 30 seconds. The over should be on medium high heat.

Step  8

Now pour 1 ½ cups of the reduced mixture from step 1 to the pan. Allow it to come to a boil. Scrape the meat brownings off the pan with a rubber spatula.

Step 9

Put the butter into the mix. Whisk all the ingredients together.

Step 10

Allow the sauce to boil. When it can coat the spoon turn it off. This takes 2 minutes.

Step  11

Serve the filet mignon with sauce.
