How to Clean the Window Screen

Having a window screen allows you to enjoy the scenery of the outdoor from inside the home. It serves as a way for the sunlight to enter and lit the whole room. It is important to clean the window from time to time otherwise it can become weak and spoilt easily. Dirty window screen is the result of dirt and debris that are deposited over time from the environment. Instead of hiring someone to clean the window, you can do it yourself to save money.

The window screen should be clean regularly to prevent deep cleaning. To clean the window, you can use a soft cloth to wipe away the dust. If you want to effectively remove the particles, you can use a vacuum cleaner. When vacuuming the window, make sure you use a soft brush that is attached to the hose. You can carefully run the soft brush over the window to avoid scratching the screen. Before vacuuming, you can test the suction power of the vacuum cleaner on a piece of wasted glass.

If the window is not cleaned regularly, it will deposit a deep layer of dirt which can be hard to remove. You can perform the deep cleaning of the window at the outdoor all at once. If there is a lack of space for cleaning the window, you can take them to a room where there is a drainage system to clean it. Soft windows are more fragile than hard windows so you have to handle them with care.

For deep cleaning, you will have to remove the screen from the window frame. You can label each window so that you will know which window should fit in which frame. For windows located on upstairs, you can ask someone to help you remove the window. When removing large windows, it is important that you pay extra attention for safety purposes.

Once the screen is taken out, they should be placed on a flat surface. The surface must be clean and free from particles to prevent damages on the screen.

Next, you should apply the detergent on the screen by using a spray bottle. If you are in the outdoor, you can use a hose to wash away the detergent effectively. The detergent should be sprayed on the front and back of the screen. You should allow some time for the detergent to soak on the screen. After a few minutes, you can use a soft brush to scrub off the dirt. You should not scrub too hard or scrub too many times as it can cause scratches on the screen and damage it. The detergent will absorb the dirt on the screen and remove them.

After that, you can use the spray the front and back of the window screen from the hose. It should be rinse completely to avoid any leftover soap to remain on the screen. If there is any excess water, you can shake the screen gently. If you want, you can use a soft sponge to wipe the frame and polish it. The screen should be lay on a drop cloth before putting it back on the window frame.
